24. Eddies back from his holiday in Spain and back on his next Intensive course. He so enjoys having the same driver for a whole week and watching their progress.  His customer passes with no mistakes, Eddie is so proud as he returns to  his garage.

**********************************************************************

23. After a busy year and a long winter Eddie was  excited and looking forward to  his holiday. The Instructor had taken Eddie to  Spain. The weather was sunny and warm, but Eddie was having to  use all  his concentration driving on the other side of the road and going around roundabouts the opposite way. The good news was the cool underground garage waiting for Eddie  at  the Spanish apartment.

*************************************************************************

22. Eddie sat quietly in his garage reflecting on the TV programme  “Licence To Kill”. All driving instructors   teach the safest way to  drive  but unfortunately after passing the driving test  the driver must take on the responsibility of controlling their own car at all times.

Eddis says “Safe Driving”.

**************************************************************************

21. Eddies drivers managed well in the snow. Now there were floods….

Eddies Driver approached the flood slowly checking its depth and steering Eddie to  the shallowest part. Eddie was in 1st gear, The Driver kept  Eddies engine speed high, controlling Eddies speed by slipping the clutch. They reached the other side and after checking the mirrors The Driver checked Eddies brakes. “All okay thank goodness” thought Eddie.

**************************************************************************

20. Eddie was listening to  his radio. Snow is expected!

REMEMBER TO:- Increase the distance between vehicles - Check mirrors before slowing down - Keep lights, mirrors, windows clear of snow - Clear snow from roof and bonnet  to  prevent it coming off and endangering other road users - Use brakes, accelerator, steering, clutch and gears gently - Remember snow covers road markings - Drive on even treated roads with extra care.

19. Eddie listened intently. The Instructor was booking in another Intensive Driving course. “Intensive Courses are very popular, we will soon need another car to help out” thought Eddie.

**************************************************************************

18. Eddie would like to  wish everyone

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND SAFE DRIVING

*************************************************************************

17. The Instructor parked Eddie outside The Office. Eddie saw the Christmas lights and tree and an advert for Christmas driving vouchers. What a good idea for a present thought Eddie. I will be busy in January.

***************************************************************************

16. Eddie then heard The Pupil ask The Instructor about her friends   driving test on 30th November. He had heard that  there may be an examiners strike that day . The Instructor said that was correct but that  all pupils must still go to The Test Centre as not all tests would be affected.

***************************************************************************

15. Eddie returned after his 6 hours of Pass Plus training. It had been a long day  but he had enjoyed it. The Pupil said how much more confident  she would now be driving on a motorway and in the dark and in bad weather. She had learnt to  drive in the summer and so had  no experience of driving in winter conditions.

**************************************************************************

14. Eddie proudly left The Test Centre to  take The Pupil home. Although The Pupil had passed their test, there was so much more to  learn about driving safely. The Instructor arranged further Pass Plus training  which would cover Night, Bad Weather, Town, Country and Motorway driving. Eddie was excited to  hear that for the motorway training he would be driving from Chichester to Gatwick!

*************************************************************************

13. Eddie knew that he had to  be on his best behaviour for the next 40 minutes. Eddie heard The Examiner tell The Pupil to  follow the road ahead, unless The Examiner or road markings said  otherwise.

The Pupil drove Eddie carefully out of the Test Centre, Eddie wondered  which manoeuvre  he would do, whether he would be stopping suddenly, or driving backwards! Never mind thought Eddie The Instructor has practised all the manoeuvres with The Pupil so many times that we are good at all of them.

The next 40 inutes went very quickly and before he knew it, Eddie was back at the Test Centre. “I am pleased to  tell you that you have passed” The Examiner tells The Pupil.

Eddie is so proud!

*************************************************************************

12. The Pupil and The Instructor went into the waiting room, soon The Examiner came in and called The Pupils name. The Pupil signed a declaration to  confirm Eddie was insured and The Examiner checked The Pupils driving licence and address. The Examiner then asked if The Pupil would like The Instructor to  accompany them on the driving test or to  listen to  the de-brief when the test was finished. The Pupil and The Examiner came out of the test centre and Eddie heard The Examiner introduce herself. The Examiner then asked The Pupil to  read a car number plate and asked 2 safety check questions. The Pupil got into Eddies driving seat while The Examiner checked Eddies tax and that he was roadworthy - before getting into the passenger seat.

****************************************************************************************************************

11. Eddie was up early. He had to  be cleaned to  look his best for his first driving test. The Instructor cleaned his paintwork and headboard, it was very important for The Pupil that Eddie looked smart for the test. After stopping for lunch (the Instructor explained how important it was that The Pupil had eaten and had a drink and relaxed before the test ). “It’s important for me too” thought Eddie, pleased The Instructor had filled his tank with petrol earlier that day. Five minutes before the test  Eddie pulled into the test centre and The Pupil reversed Eddie into one of the bays. The Pupil and The Instructor went into the test centre. Eddie waited patiently.

********************************************************************************************************************

10. Eddie parked outside The Pupils house. The Instructor knocked on the door and The Pupil came out looking a little apprehensive. The Instructor showed The Pupil to  the passenger seat, The Pupil looked relieved! The Instructor explained that they would drive to  a quiet road to  begin the course. The Pupil had never driven before and so  was on a 5 day course. There was a lot of driving time each day. The Instructor explained that Excels pass rate for intensive courses proves that the courses are designed correctly and that Excel has been doing these courses for over 20  years. Eddie felt proud.

*******************************************************************************************************************

9. Eddie heard The Instructors footsteps and the garage door opened. Eddie was leaving to  meet his first customer. Eddie felt a little nervous but also very excited, he wondered if the pupil felt the same. All Eddie knew was that The Pupil was to  complete an Intensive Driving Course. Eddie had heard The Instructor explaining that there were courses to  suit everyone from beginners to  those with a lot of driving experience. You could even  take a driving test  at  the end of your course, or a later date to  suit you.

*********************************************************************************************************************

8. Eddie waited patiently in his garage. Was it to be today he met his first pupil for a driving lesson? The time passed, he heard The Car Next Door taking his  owner to  work, The Children Next Door went to  nursery school—-it was very quiet. What was happening? Suddenly Eddie heard The Instructors voice— no lesson today—The Instructor was going to  the Olympics! Eddie sighed, “maybe tomorrow” he thought.

*********************************************************************************************************************

7. The Excel Car told Eddie that she had worked for Excel for a long time and how friendly  all the cars were. There are many different types of Excel car, making sure customers have the best car to  suit them. Some cars are manual, some automatic, and some have adaptations to  help disabled drivers.

**********************************************************************************************************************

6. Eddie waited patiently for The Instructor. He could hear voices and laughter coming from The Office. I bet The Instructor is having tea and biscuits! Just then another Excel car parked, “Oh good” thought Eddie, ” “A chance to get some helpful advice”.

**********************************************************************************************************************

5. Eddie arrived at the Excel office. He had to pick up his Headboard which he had to wear on his roof during lessons. It showed the other drivers that he was on a driving lesson  and that he was from  Excel.

*********************************************************************************************************************

4. Eddie caught a glimpse of himself in the shiney door - now he felt like a proper driving school car. His signwriting showed he belonged to  a professional  team —- just like all  the other Excel cars.

**********************************************************************************************************************

3. Having enjoyed a well deserved lie in Eddie cautiously moved his dual controls which The Mechanic had fitted—first the brake–then the clutch. It felt a little strange but he knew he would soon get used to  it.

Today he was meeting The Signwriter!

**********************************************************************************************************************

2. Eddie woke early. The sun was shining and he waited patiently to hear the Instructors footsteps outside his garage. Eddie was to have dual controls fitted.

I must have these to  keep my pupils and The Instructor safe and so  that The Instructor can teach properly.

***********************************************************************************************************************

1. Eddie couldn’t sleep. Although his garage was warm and comfortable he was so excited about his big day——his first day as a driving school car!
