Excel Driving Centre Limited have a good reputation in training and are the only local ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers) Driving instructor Training School.

Course Structure

Part 1 - Theory Test

A computerized Hazard perception and theory test of 100 questions based on the highway code and other motoring maters. The test can be taken at Worthing or Portsmouth test centres.

Part 2 - Driving Test

This test consists of a 1 hour driving test taken at Southampton or Guildford. An advanced level is expected for this test.

Trainee Licence

Once you have passed your part 1theory & part 2 driving test and completed 40 hours of training you are invited to apply for a trainee license. This is valid for 6 months and it entitles you to start teaching as a (PDI) Partly-Trained Driving Instructor and enables you to earn money while training and recoup you training fees. Please note at this point you will need a car with dual controls. You will not need a car before taking the part 2 driving test.

Part 3 - Ability to teach

This final test is taken before the end of your trainee licence and is a one hour test taken at Southampton or Guildford with the examiner acting as a pupil of mixed ability. After passing this test you will become a qualified driving instructor.
