Driving Instructor Training with Excel

ASSESSMENT

Excel conduct a 2 hour assessment before PDI’s commit to training. The assessment provides an introduction to driving instruction  as a career and the 3 qualifying exams. The purpose of the assessment is to establish that a trainee has the potential too pass all 3 tests and to provide  necessary information before commiting to a training program. The assessment is conducted in one of Excels dual controlled cars with an Ordit registered trainer and consists of 3 parts:-

PART 1            Theory  - 50 questions based on the Highway Code and motoring matters.

PART 2            A driving assessment conducted by a senior instructor

PART 3            A short roleplay section assessing a trainees suitability in a teaching situation

A written report is provided on completion of the assessment

Cost of 2 hour assessment   £50.00 + VAT

PART 1 THEORY TEST & PART 2 DRIVING ABILITY TEST

Training for Parts 1 and 2 is run simultaneously and consists of 20 hours of training both in the classroom and in-car, covering all aspects required for the tests. unlimited attempts are permitted for Part1 and three atempts for Part 2

Part 3 INSTRUCTIONAL ABILITY

A one hour test in two phases with the examiner acting as a pupil. All training for Part 3 is conducted on a one to one basis with an Ordit registered trainer using pre-set lesson plans as laid down by the Driving Standards Agency. Part 3  training consists of 20 hours of tuition and is in-car and classroom based. Three attempts at Part 3 are permitted.

ON COMPLETION OF 40 HOURS OF TRAINING A TRAINEE LICENCE MAY BE APPLIED FOR

PLEASE NOTE PART 3 CAN BE COMPLETED WITHOUT  A TRAINEE LICENCE

TRAINEE LICENCE

After completing Part 2 of the qualifying exams  a trainee licence may be applied for. An instructor is licenced by the Driving Standards Agency to give driving tuition, the licence being valid for 6 months. An additional 20 hours of training is required for a trainee licence by the Driving Standards Agency and a car fitted with dual contrls is also required at this stage.

IN ADDITION

Excel also provide full training covering Business Planning . This training is in addition to the 40 hours and is free of charge.
